Wear Orange Sunday: June 1, 2025

St. Stephen’s and the Vine invites everyone to participate in “Wear Orange Sunday” on Sunday, June 1, 2025, to remember the more than 43,000 people killed with guns and approximately 76,000 who are shot and wounded every year.

Here are ways you can engage in Wear Orange Sunday:

  • Wear orange clothing to church and around your community.
  • Clergy can wear orange stoles.
  • Consider using special prayers of lament and hope.
  • Promote gun violence prevention as an individual and a congregation.
  • Use gun locks on any firearms in your home.
  • Take pictures and post about gun violence prevention on your favorite social media platforms, using #wearorange and #DioMo.
  • Attend a Wear Orange event. Visit wearorange.org to find an event near you.

However you choose to observe Wear Orange Sunday, the important thing is that we honor and remember in prayer those whose lives have been cut short by gunfire and those survivors whose lives are forever scarred. Our faith compels us to love one another as Christ has loved us and to work for peace in our communities.

Wear Orange is a nationwide annual event scheduled for June 6-8, 2025. Because Pentecost falls in that weekend, the Diocese of Missouri will be observing Wear Orange Sunday one week earlier, on June 1. We encourage you to participate with us on June 1 and then share your pictures and stories on social media June 6-8 and/or attend a Wear Orange event to be part of the nationwide movement.
