Healing Prayer at St. Stephen’s

Beginning March 22, we will resume the practice of Healing Prayer at the end of the 10 a.m. service, for all who wish to participate. We will have Healing Prayer available at the end of the 10 a.m. service on every Fourth Sunday going forward.

I find great solace in Healing Prayer, whether praying with one other person or with several dozen, as I just experienced at the Diocesan Clergy Retreat.

Through the outward and visible sign of inward and spiritual grace—in the anointing with oil, the laying on of hands and our prayers together—we express our love for God and God’s love for us. We bring forth our desires for peace and wholeness in mind, body and spirit, and we are strengthened through prayer for one another.

On the website of St. John’s Episcopal Church in New Braunfels, TX, I found this apt description:

“The Healing Service is where the faithful come together and pray for those who are sick or in need of healing. Our Healing Service is not necessarily a service of curing, even though this does occur, but it does provide a nurturing and caring environment in which healing can happen. The greatest healing one can obtain is the reunion or reconciliation with God. When this occurs, one’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health is restored, and relationships are renewed.”

I invite you to join me for Healing Prayer next Sunday, March 22, whether you seek healing in body, mind or spirit. It is an opportunity for restoration and reconciliation with God and one another, in Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Love and Blessings,
